The Postnatal Check You Deserve
Up to 50% of women experience weakness in both the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy, and as many as one-third may still have a diastasis recti (tummy gap) at eight weeks post-birth. This can lead to instability, poor core strength, and potentially result in pelvic or back pain, as well as bladder, bowel, or sexual dysfunction. These issues should not be considered a normal or unavoidable part of postpartum recovery.
While it is recommended that women undergo an initial postnatal assessment at 6-8 weeks, we also work with women who gave birth years ago and may still be experiencing a tummy gap or other pelvic floor-related concerns. Every woman deserves comprehensive care and support as she recovers and rebuilds her strength after childbirth.
